The celebration of the 10th anniversary of Fluxblog continues with the 2008 survey mix, which includes 158 excellent songs spread across 8 discs. This look back on the recent past features classics by Vampire Weekend, Lil Wayne, Hercules and Love Affair, Beyoncé, Kanye West, of Montreal, TV on the Radio, Deerhunter, Atlas Sound, Goldfrapp, Nine Inch Nails, Lady Gaga, Annie, The Kills, Fleet Foxes, Taylor Swift, No Age, Hot Chip, Rick Ross, Erykah Badu, Stereolab, The Juan Maclean, Marnie Stern and Santogold. If you’re on Spotify, here’s a playlist featuring most of the tracks, courtesy of Sarah Peters.

It’s easy to keep the current moment in mind, and almost as easy to fixate on eras far in the rearview, but sometimes you need a good reminder that the recent past means something, too. That’s my flowery-ass way of saying that this mix series is insane in how good it is and you should get it.
